John McLaughlin, President

John holds a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley, and is a California-Licensed Professional Civil Engineer, C86329.

Louis Arighi, Principal III

Louis holds a B.S. in Earth Sciences from UC Santa Cruz and an M.S. in Geology from Oregon State University. He is a California Licensed Professional Geologist, #8501.

Louis Arighi has over a fifteen years of experience in environmental consulting.  Louis’ project experience includes management of site investigations and construction oversight projects, as well as management of groundwater monitoring programs, at sites around the greater Bay Area.  He has extensive experience helping clients develop cost-effective solutions for time-sensitive projects.

In his free time, he enjoys hiking around the Bay Area, travelling to new places, playing softball, and rooting for the Oakland Athletics.

Kira Lou, Principal III

Kira holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Emory University and an M.P.H in Environmental Health Sciences from UC Berkeley.

Kira Lou has over eight years of experience in environmental consulting, during which time she has implemented large-scale indoor air monitoring programs and vapor intrusion assessments, provided support on Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and similar investigations, including construction and redevelopment oversight.  This work often involves designing soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and indoor air sampling programs, developing work plans and completion reports, assisting in managing implementation of the programs in the field, and providing project management and strategic support to clients.

Kirsten Pratt, Manager

Kirsten holds a B.A. in Anthropology & English Literature from UC Berkeley and an A.S. in Earth Science from Canada College. She is a California Licensed Professional Geologist and QSD, #10015 .

Kirsten Pratt has over eight years of industry experience in environmental remediation, soil and water contaminant transport & breakdown, GIS, regulatory compliance, and investigation design and implementation. Her field experience covers phase 1, 2, and 3 field investigations and all phases of site work including building surveys, land, excavation and utility surveys, well design and installation, drilling oversight and soil core logging, groundwater monitoring network design and installation, air monitoring plan development and implementation, and subcontractor oversight. Her laboratory experience includes soil extraction and analysis for PCBs using ELISA technology and preparation of samples for U-series dating and stable isotope analysis.

She is particularly interested in the intersection of geologic, environmental, and human problems, natural resource quality, climate change, and environmental resilience. In her spare time, Kit enjoys the outdoors, knitting, yoga, reading, and spending time with her cats and chickens.

Andrew Sinclair, Manager

Andrew holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley.

Andrew Sinclair has over six years of consulting experience specializing in environmental monitoring, Proposition 65 compliance, and environmental data analysis. His field experience includes air monitoring, construction oversight, and soil and groundwater sampling. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

Outside of work, Mr. Sinclair enjoys playing contract bridge and other games of all kinds.

James (JT) Babbe, Senior Scientist

JT holds a B.S./M.S. in Earth Science from UC Santa Cruz, and is a GIT.

James (JT) Babbe has approximately three years of industry experience in environmental consulting and focuses primarily on construction oversight, coordinating hazardous materials surveys and overseeing related documentation, indoor and outdoor air quality monitoring, soil and groundwater investigations, and other aspects related to Phase II work including reporting and preparing work plans.

Outside of consulting, JT enjoys surfing, hiking, and reading.

Elyse holds a B.S. in Earth Sciences with a concentration in Environmental Geology from UCSC.

Elyse Abramson has experience as a field technician with a focus on water quality. She is eagerly expanding her field knowledge while gaining experience overseeing redevelopment projects, and is actively supporting a variety of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.

While not working, Elyse enjoys cooking, exploring new places, and deciding what her next nail design will be.

Jonathan Sachrison, Staff Scientist

Jonathan holds a B.S. in Physics with a minor in Geophysics from UCLA.

Jonathan Sachrison has research experience from UCLA’s GALE lab where he used Python and wind & satellite data to determine and plot aeolian processes. He also has experience in geologic mapping.

When not working, Jonathan can be found climbing in nearby mountains and boulder fields or training at the gym.

Johanna Holo, Staff Scientist

Jo holds a B.S. in Chemistry and Geophysical Sciences from the University of Chicago and an M.S. in Earth Sciences from UC Santa Cruz

Jo’s past research was focused primarily on paleoclimatology and stable isotope biogeochemistry. She is excited to get more field experience and is interested in air monitoring, construction oversight, soil and groundwater sampling, and more.

In her free time Jo enjoys tap dancing, roller blading, and reading.
